Major events include my: first car...first date...first kiss...and my first broken heart (which still hasn't fully mended). Oh well, such is life. I wish you all happiness, peace, and above all, a bit of luck when you need it most.

Sept. 27, 2004 Gail (Sawyer) Bekei 1979 gabekei@shaw.ca Just popping in after 24 yrs. I had a great time in 2000 at our 20yr anniversary,,,sorry I had to miss the 50th. It looks like a good time was had by all. I'm still living in Beautiful British Columbia, working as a purchaser for an Int'l Diesel Parts and Turbo Distributor. I was hoping to find Leslie Gough in here or her sidekick Sandy (grads 1978), Corrine Secord or Kelly Levely. If you happen to know of these ladies..pass on the website and have them send me a note. Good luck and best wishes to all....
July 28, 2004 Kimberley McGuire 2000 kimberleymcguire21@hotmail.com Wow!! Even though I was unable to be at the reunion, I now live in British Columbia working for the Fairmont chateau Whistler & volunteer forest firefighter, It was great to check out photos, see some familiar faces and to remember what a great time I had at hal high. I send out my best wishes to all I know and those I dont, and please email me if you wish.
June 21, 2004 Dwight Thomas 1970
Wow!!! The Reunion was awesome. Many, many thanks to all those who worked so hard to make this possible. I trust the satisfaction the organizers' felt was equal to the great joy you brought to us. The years melted away with every familiar face. It was a major smile fest - a giant love-in from the Sixties. It's so great having just one high school in the County - everyone gets to know everyone else. That's what makes HalHi special. And the weekend was a blast. Through this excellent website we can keep in contact with our school mates. What wonderful memories! Talk to you!!
Jun 14, 2004 Bruce Rockery 1970 brockory@nbnet.nb.ca one month later still smiling. Please note new email address. All the best.
June 10, 2004 Rosemary Elstone 1969
The HHSS guestbook was recently brought to my attention by a colleague. I have read the comments with interest, if not nostalgia. I do note, however, that my name is included in one submission, as a graduate of 1970. This is not correct. I believe Dwight Thomas is thinking not of me but of my sister, Elizabeth Elstone, who was a graduate of 1970 and the fellow student of the persons named in the submission. After all these years, it is curious that she a creative, original person in her own right , continues to be mistaken for me.
June 9, 2004 Tammy (Pritchard) Payne 1989 tpayne30@hotmail.com It's funny how many people you put on the back burner and then when you hear their name again you hear yourself saying "Geez i haven't thought of that person in years!!" Well that was how i felt reading through the guest book..........there were names that brought back some pretty powerful memories. Thanks for the good times guys.....my time at HHSS will always be remembered thanks to you. Blessed Be Take care of you.
June 8, 2004 Emily Bjelis

June 8, 2004 Suzanne (Penney) Roberts 1981 SR135523@ncr.com Just wanted to say a hugh thank you to Joan and the rest of the organizing committe of the 50th reunion. We had a wonderful time seeing old friends and teachers - my only regret was the lack of other people from the years I attended. You don't know what you missed. Looking forward to the next one! It was great seeing all of you that were there - and I'm working on getting the pictures we had taken sent out. Hope to keep in touch better than I've done in the past!
June 1, 2004 John and Dixie Logie Staff TheCalicoCat@ripnet.com We attended the 50th Reunion in mid May and we want to thank all of the organizers for making it such a successful weekend. We almost didn't go as we thought we wouldn't know anyone but it turned out that we did know many people. Many thanks to all past students from 1963 - 1968 who came to say hello. Names and faces brought back so many memories. It was nice to come back to Haliburton for a visit. We now live in Brockville, Ontario, where we run a B&B in the summer. We spend the winters skiing in B.C. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to be there.
June 1, 2004 Michael Wilson 1999 ceo17@hotmail.com Good day to all to whom remember me just wanted to tell ya I miss everyone. Times have changed and I miss the old days, the more I think about it the more it gets worse. Those were the best day's of our lives and I don't even know were everyone is. No one wants to stay in contact. I am hoping old friends will drop me a line cause I miss ya all. Farwell for now.
May 30, 2004 Jon Orpana 1986 jon.sara@sympatico.ca I had a great time connecting with a small group from my time at HHSS. Sorry that more grads from the 80's were not able to make an appearance. I noticed even ones that" registered " were pretty absent from the first part of the event until the dinner/dance. Jon If any one wants to chat please drop me a line!!!
May 25, 2004 Bruce Rockery 1970 rockory.bruce@3web.net 9 days later and the smile is as big, unbelivable, what a great time.To the committee, you guys did a fabulous job.(how about next year). You never realize how many good people were a part of your lives for such a short time. May 25, 2004 Bonnie Stinson-Holliday 1971
Thanks for a great Reunion. It was fun to revisit the old school and admire the marvelous additions and changes. As a member of our local school council having input into the building of a new community school for Arthur and Mount Forest I am so envious of your facilities!!! Congratulations. I have enjoyed the beautiful floral arrangments I won - and will enjoy the renewed friendships. Thanks for a great, great day.
May 25, 2004 Michael Anderson 1999 lilpugger@hotmail.com I must say the lack of response of people at or near my generation is disconcerting, considering we were known as the internet generation... I must say my times at Hal High were of the most memorable of my life. With the reunion a great success (albeit costly!) I hope it can be done again soon! Here's to everybody who couldn't attend, coming back to Haliburton, either virtually or IRL, and making their mark on the town. Some day, Haliburton will be well known for it's outpouring of beings who chance the face of the world. Let it be known who has the legacy of being from here, and rejoice in the fact!
May 25, 2004 Wayne McGee 1976 wdmcgoo@yahoo.ca Wow! What a great weekend! Enjoyed seeing the "gang" again, and renewing old friendships. Many thanks to the Reunion Commitee for an incredible experience. It was especially great to see Mr. Brohman and Mrs. English at the dance. I tried to track down Mr. Rouble at the dance, but unfortunately missed talking with him. When is the next Reunion? Is a 51st Reunion too soon??I've included my email address, so feel free to drop a note, just to say Hi.
May 20, 2004 Karen (Lonsberry) Yatabe 1970 karenyatabe@rogers.com I just wanted to thank the 50th reunion organizing committee for providing use with an outstanding opportunity to renew friendships, make new friendships and just remember when...Great Job!!!
May 20, 2004 Rosemary Stinson Woods 1968 rmswoods@hotmail.com I just wanted to express my outstanding appreciation to all who made the reunion happen!!! What a great event! I know it's too soon to think of an excuse for the next one - but please do it again!! There just wasn't enough time to talk to all. My sister and I were some of the very few who attended the last one (30th???) so did not make plans to attend the dinner dance as we came "spouseless". We are so sorry we weren't there for the whole weekend and can't imagine not having the opportunity again. Was disappointed that many "locals" seemed to ignore the event. They musn't appreciate the jewel of a school and community that you have. Again - many thanks for all the work and enthusiasm that were evident everywhere. By the way - did anybody ever sing the school song???? Evidently the words were written by Mr. Pratt and put to music by Mr. Brandon - I still remember all of it!!! Rosemary Stinson Woods Class of '68
May 20, 2004 Bonnie (Dunford) O'Brien 1974 terryobrien@rogers.com A big thank you to the Reunion Committee on a job well done. It was great to see old classmates, teachers and friends. Thanks for all the memories. As a parent,it was great to see how the current principal (Mr. Brohman), who was a teacher of mine, to be so proud of his school and rightly so. It was great to see my two favourite teachers (Mr. Brohman and Mr. Robinson). I loved high school and these two teachers were a big part of why I did. Thanks again!
May 19, 2004 Shelley (Thomson) Schell 1980 tigwam@sympatico.ca Wow! To the reunion committee - thank you so very much for your hard work. It was an incredible event. May 19, 2004 Joan (Fennell) Chapple 1953 j.chapple@sympatico.ca Thanks for the memories. It was a great weekend. Our committee was thrilled with the whole event and basked in the happy vibes that filled the school and arena. As I said - YOU were the reunion - what it was all about. I hope you, too, found it to be a "moment in time" that can never be replaced or taken from you. Happy futures.

May 7, 2004 Russ & Jean Hogg 1963 rhogg@sympatico.ca hoggej@sympatico.ca The people that organized this 50th reunion are to be congratulated. May 7, 2004 Josie (Miscio) Beck 1971 josiebeck@sympatico.ca Hi Everyone I was only at HHSS for one year (1970-1971) then moved to Hamilton, Ont. after the death of my mother. I was raised in Carnarvon and went to public school with many of the kids from the area. It was great being raised in the Highlands and still visit regularly. I am currently living in Cambridge, Ont. and am going to try to make the reunion I am currently living in Cambridge, Ontario with my son. My husband passed away unexpectedly last year. Congratulations to all and hope to see some of you at the reunion.
May 7, 2004 Marilyn Rennick 1963 marilyn@rennick.ca While I would dearly love to be celebrating with everyone May 14th-16th, my niece Danielle's wedding (my brother Don's daughter) takes precedence. Hello to all my friends, especially my classmates. The last forty years seem to have passed all too quickly. Starting with studying at Carleton University, I have made my life in Ottawa, apart from studying at Dalhousie University for two years. My life has been a life in education, too. With studying and working (at Carleton and University of Ottawa) in universities, all my life, as a child, teenager, and adult, I have never really left school! However, it hasn't all been just work in the educational sector: I have been active professionally as a librarian, served as President of our faculty association, active in my church and various local ministries. There is much more I would like to do, but there are just so many days in the week! As I reflect on my education in the Haliburton schools, I am grateful for the excellent foundation we received in most areas. Considering that the school is relatively small with respect to some of the urban schools, its graduates have gone on to higher education and various professions. However, whether or not we actually have returned to live, there is still a warm spot in our hearts for Haliburton County. I will look forward to hearing reports of the weekend as will the other members of my family who are Haliburton graduates and who will be celebrating with my niece. All the best to everyone, Marilyn Rennick
May 5, 2004 Gwen (Packard) Harrison 1970 gwenharrison20@hotmail.com Hi! We are sorry that we will not be able to attend the reunion but hope that the event is a huge sucess. We attended the last reunion as we were living at either Hall's lake of Carnarvon at the time and were fortunate to have made contacts with various classmates and other school friends over the years. We have been living in Alberta for 4 years but as Brandy (20) is attending Carleton in Ottawa and the family is still in Haliburton, we have managed to visit a few times. It has been great to read the guest book! Best wishes to all!
May 4, 2004 Dorothy (Stamp) Black 1967 dcb9.black@sympatico.ca Hi everyone! This is going to be a great reunion. Just remember all the TeenTown dances and all the midnight dances at the Slipper and Medleys. What a great time to be young! looking forward to seeing everyone there.

May 3, 2004 Lois (MacBrien) Foster 1980 fstrxln@nexicom.net It'll be great to connect with friends and acquaintances of years gone by and I look forward to the reunion. Apr. 20, 2004 Ed Buke 1958 fasteddie439@msn.com I actually only went to school one year at the big school on the lake, I was 15 and attended Grade 9. Miss Gardner (Geography) was my home room teacher and Norm Sisco was Principal. I WOULD HAVE graduated in 1958 at the HCDHS! As it was my family moved out west in 1956, my dad sold his restaurant in town and wound up buying a Pool Hall in Creston BC. In the summer of 1956, I joined the army at 16 years of age and attended Grades 10, 11, 12 in what was called the 'Apprentice Army'. I graduated anyway - leaving the army in 1961 to attend Grades 12-13 in Creston BC after which I joined the Airforce as a Pilot. Life got interesting after that...and 32 years of service. Kept revisiting Haliburton and eventually met and married a local girl (Sheila Watt) and retired here in Haliburton
Apr. 20, 2004 Anna Edwards 1995 anna@egate.net Hello HHSS! I attended between 1990 and 1993, and still think back fondly of all the craziness of those years... Drop me a line some time, I miss everyone!
Apr. 16, 2004 Ruth Stephenson 1975 ruth_stephenson@swissre.com Even though I spend half my time in Haliburton County it's been a long time since I've seen those of you who have signed up (especially Heather and Ron) so looking forward to it! Not too many listed from the 73-75 era (can't believe I was only at HHSS for 2 yrs. and that it was so long ago) and I could've sworn I graduated the same year as Chris Bishop?
Apr. 15, 2004 Miriam (Vanderwal) Traher 1981 ptraher@quadro.net I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to reaquainting with all my "old" friends. It has too long since I have been back. Just finished cruising through the old graduating yearbook of '81, what a hoot. It will be a blast catching up with everyone, laughing over old memories and all the physical attributes we have gained or lost over the years. Inga, I am also worried. I think I may be very light-headed at the end of the weekend from sucking it in for three days. Oh well, with or with out, we will have fun. To all the old friends that won't be there, I will miss seeing you again. Drop me a line any time and fill me in on the last 23 years.
Apr. 15, 2004 Angela (Carpenter) Chapple 1991

Apr. 8, 2004 Michael Johnson 1970 johngrif@execulink.com Okay graduates from 1970 -- this is getting downright embarrassing! We still only have 10 names showing as registered; 1976 now has 12 names; and 1979, my little sister's year, has 13!! If any of you know anyone out there to encourage to register that they are coming, do it!! Looking forward to seeing folks.
Apr. 8, 2004 MaryLou (Johnson) McKay 1979 happytoilet2@hotmail.com A little sibling rivalry here - Michael Johnson and his 1970's have 10 attendees and MaryLou and the 79ers have 13 attendees - way to go - see you there with bug spray in hand!!

Apr. 6, 2004 Jaro Cooper 1989 jarocooper@hotmail.com It has been a while since we clutched our diplomas, brimming with confidence, ready to step from the familiar halls of Hal High into the great unknown.... And I am sure there are there are a number of very interesting stories for each of us to tell of what has transpired since. Unfortunately, if you don't come, you will have no one to tell or impress! So, I encourage you to take the time and come as I think we had a very good and talented group of people and we would all enjoy seeing each other again.(and with any luck....life, time and maturity may have cured of us our high school insecurities and less than desirable behaviours....I'm half way there anyway ;-) Hope to see you there!

Mar. 31, 2004 Michael Johnson 1970 johngrif@execulink.com Okay, class of '70. We're still at 10 registered, and if I count correctly, 1976 has also logged in 10 registrations now. Sol, get out there and beat the bushes guys! I regret that I have lost touch with most folks I went to HalHi with. However, it has been great to be in touch with Karl Consack, Bonnie (Stinson) Holliday, Dorothy (Wallace) McCord, and Peter Hewitt by email. Looking forward to stirring up many memories at the reunion. I'm remembering that in my graduating year that the 'seniors' were alowed to have their own little common room -- and we could smoke there!!!! (It had been a storage closet!!!) Also remembering that we had to go down accross the tracks to smoke, but often sneaked one in the train! See you all soon. Michael Johnson

Mar. 29, 2004 Craig Morrison 1968 craig.morrison@rogers.com Been reading the other entries and didn't realize I knew so many ex HHSS students. But high school was the best 6 years of my life, so maybe that's not surprising. Nothing the matter with a victory lap as long as you finish. It would be great see some of the Haliburton Huskie Juniors from my era 65 to 68. Remember guys, you don't have to be a graduate to go to a reunion. Looking forward to seeing lots of ex class mates. Lets really get behind this event by getting the message out to as many as possible. See you in May.

Mar. 10, 2004 Debra (Hewitt) Dart 1970 rdart@halhinet.on.ca OK class of '70, as of today we have the most registered but it's a far cry from the total class. Don't you remember Paul Wilson saying when we graduated that we were going to get together in 2000? Well either you guys did and didn't tell me or Y2K sabotaged all the invitations. Come on everyone, the party's all arranged, all we have to do is show up. As the saying goes, just do it! See you in May.
Mar. 8, 2004 Karen (Lonsberry) Yatabe 1970 karenyatabe@rogers.com Very much looking forward to this event. I just received a call from Karl Cosack (who I have not seen in many years) and our conversation renewed my enthusiasm and anticipation. Thanks for arranging.

Mar. 6, 2004 Wendy (Gough) Bolt 1974 wbolt@golden.net I can't believe that Suzanne Penney graduated 22 years ago! The staff members have been wonderful in the year and a half I went there. I must not forget my two favourite principals Mr. Sternberg and Mr. Brohman. They have given me much support in all my decision making and I would like to thank them for help making me the person I am today. I will always remember hal high as my second home.

I hope that lots of people from my year will attend. I would love to catch up. For myself, I am at the University of Ottawa studying Sociology. I am still not married and no kids (Thank goodness!). My future plans are to get into teacher’s college and live happily ever after teaching. Sometimes, I hope to become the next Dibblee or the next Ms. Miller. These teachers brought me so many memories and so much laughter. However, I know for a fact I wouldn’t be able to do those crazy hand walks through the classroom. For those who will not be attending, drop me an email. I would love to see how you are doing. Sarah Burk

Feb. 1, 2004 Michael Johnson 1970 johngrif@execulink.com I graduated from HHSS in 1970, although that was after leaving and working for a year and then coming back to do grade 13 over again (I first completed grade 13 (unsuccessfully) in 1968). I first heard about this reunion through Bonnie (Stinson) Holliday, and I am hoping to attend, as is my sister MaryLou (Johnson) McKay. I have already been in touch with Karl Consack through this Guest Book - he and I roomed together when we attended York U in 70-71. Someone mentioned Mollie McInerney, and also her dad, Clarence, who was one of my favorite teachers. I am currently serving as a Parish Priest in the Anglican Church in London, Ontario. Hope to reconnect with many through this year. May God bless you all.

tyler.rw@forces.gc.ca HHSS was a good school. We were well taught and had many oportunities which I know from training others they did not have. I have not yet retired from the Canadian Navy which I joined in 1969 as a marine engineer. For anyone recognizing the term "STOKER", go to www.stokers.ca to find links to shipmates.

Jan. 15, 2004 Wendy Denise Bishop 1956 rjwwdb@aol.com Haliburton Secondary School opened the same year I began High School. Up until that time, both my older siblings Curry and Pat were able to participate in "Initiation Ceremonies" for the new students entering Grade 9. Their High School was considerably smaller and accommodated only those who lived in nearby Haliburton. I felt at that time, that I had missed out on something special.
Jan. 14, 2004 Jacquie (Holm) Robinson 2001 Solo__82@hotmail.com Just checking out the website, keeping up with what's been happening at Hal High since I was a student not so long ago (1996 - 2001). Thought maybe there'd be some people I went to school with who signed the guestbook that I could say hello to. Since my time at HHSS I've gotten married to a wonderful man named Arron, had a son named Ethan (who is a year and a half!) and moved to North Vancouver, B.C. Hal High was quite an experience and I want to thank my teachers and fellow students who made it what it was for me. Keep it up you guys!
