What We Have Learned About
Our Pen-pals From France

The picture above was editted by Andrew and Travis, grade
eight.
- They live across the ocean
in Europe
- Population is 58 109
000
- Some finish school at
twelve on Fridays (way earlier than us :( )
- Some finish school at five
on Mondays (way later than us :) )
- They take different
subjects then us e.g. Biology and Latin
- They have lots of mountains
(Alps)
- They play lots of sports
like: Soccer, Fencing, Skiing and Table tennis
- They listen to English
music (American/Canadian)
- It seems to be very
important to be thin and healthy there, because in all our photos,
our pen-pals and their families seem very thin and
healthy
- They only speak French
(some English)
- Fashions are very different
than ours, we can tell by their photos
- Some people there on the
beaches are topless
- Their time is 6 hours ahead
of us
- We think that some of our
pen-pals go to private schools
- They express measuement in
metric, e.g. 1m 72cm insted of 5' 8", and they express their
weight in kilograms instead of pounds
- The land seems hilly in
most of our photos
- Their penmanship is very
different and sometimes we have difficulties understanding it, but
it looks pretty. It looks like they learned how to write in our a
different way.
- They are very different
(i.e. hair) because there culture is very different than
ours
- Some ride fourwheelers
which tells us that some have a lot of open space
- They use military style
time insted of our style of time (e.g. they say 14h15min instead
of 2:15 p.m.)
- They use the "Euro"
economic system, and they used to use "francs".
- At one school, the day
starts at eight o'clock at ends at two o'clock!
- The paper they use is
longer and has six holes, and some has boxes all over
it
- Their phone numbers are way
longer than ours
- They learn a lot more
languages than us at school
- They use fountain pens,
which have ink cartridges and metal nibs
- Many of the girls love the
television show "Charmed", and we have the same show
here!
- People have lived in France
longer then we have lived in Canada, for example, the city of
"Montauban" is at least 850 years old
- It is much warmer there in
the winter than it is in Canada
- The capitol of France is
Paris
