Hybrid Delivery

Building on the online curriculum of the Virtual Learning Centre,  a number of “hybrid” courses have been offered in Trillium Lakelands. Hybrid courses are a combination of face to face and remote instruction – that is some students attend the traditional classroom with the teacher. Other students attend the class via a web meeting over the internet. These remote students can be anywhere in the world and their classroom experience is similar to that of the students who are physically attending.
 
Using technologies like interactive white boards, Breeze online meetings, wireless microphones, web cameras in conjunction with online course material, students are able to communicate in real time independent of their location. The classroom teacher is able to teach in a familiar way in that they can talk, write, draw, show videos or interactive content, knowing that everything seen and heard by the local students is also available to the remote students.
